William D. Zantow

William D. Zantow, 78, of Southington, died peacefully at his home, with his family by his side, on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. He had been the loving husband of Cecile (Boutot) Zantow for 58 years.

Born in Bristol on September 17, 1942 to the late William and Sadie (Bell) Zantow, he had been a lifelong Southington resident.

When Bill wasn’t on the golf course, playing a game of poker or working alongside Cecile at the Carousel, he was very active in many clubs in Southington, including Sons of Italy, German American Society, and the Elks Lodge.

In addition to his wife Cecile, Bill is survived by three children, Rick Zantow and wife Alex of Avon, Jim Zantow of Bristol and Cheryl Zantow of Southington, 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, his sister, Marcia Stanish of Southington and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill’s memory may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Walk-through calling hours will be held from 2 – 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St, Plantsville. A graveside service will be celebrated at 12 noon on Monday, April 19, 2021 at Oak Hill Cemetery, 95 Flanders St, Southington. Face coverings and social distancing are required at all times.
