William F. "Bill" Robinson, 81, of the Plantsville section of Southington, died peacefully in his sleep on Friday, November 4, 2016 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut at New Britain General, after a short illness.
Bill was born in Waterbury on June 11, 1935 to the late William J. and Eva (Semitas) Robinson. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years, returning to Waterbury after receiving an honorable discharge. Bill went back to work for the Lux Clock Manufacturing, later known as Robertshaw Controls, for thirty years until the operation moved to Tennessee. While with Lux, he was on the bowling league and the baseball team. After the plant closed, Bill worked for Liften Industries in Watertown for several years until moving on to AGC in Meriden, where he worked for eight years until retiring in 1997.
After marrying Trudy (Mueller) in 1973, Bill moved to Plantsville where they made their home for 43 happy years. During those years, Bill enjoyed walking, fishing-both deep sea and fresh water, swimming, boating, working around the house and yard, and going to baseball games at Fenway Park and Yankee Stadium. As everyone knew, Bill was a lifelong Yankee fan. They also spent time in Massachusetts visiting friends and late relatives and vacationing in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and Rhode Island.
