William P. Kelley

William P. Kelley (89), until recently of the Plantsville section of Southington, died Sunday, September 6, 2015 after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Lois M. (Bilger) Kelley in 2005.

Born in Bristol, CT on July 31, 1926, he was the son of the late James Kelley and Hannah (Palmen) Kelley. William is survived by three sons: Paul Kelley and his wife Pamela of Simsbury, CT; James Kelley of Cromwell, CT and Jonathan Kelley and his wife Pam of Essex, CT; two grandchildren, Todd Kelley and his wife Kristin of West Simsbury, CT and Laura, wife of Joseph Szczapa of Suffield, CT and two great-grandchildren: Jaxson August Kelley and Braydon William Kelley, both of West Simsbury, CT. He was predeceased by his brother J. Howard Kelley in 1999.

William was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from 1944-1946. He lived in Bristol until 1955 when he moved to Plantsville, where he lived out the rest of his life. He worked for the Ingraham Watch Company until 1958, then was employed by Raymond Engineering in Middletown, CT where he retired as a Quality Control Inspector in 1988. He was a Mason at Lodge 57 in Bristol, a past president of the Southington Exchange Club and a member of the First Baptist Church in Southington, serving as a trustee there for 30 years.

William and his family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Southington Care Center for their devoted care during this past year, the Southington Care Center Men's Club for helping to make his days there happy and Fresenius Medical Care Dialysis of Southington for their skill in keeping William well for such a long time.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 11, 2015 at South End Cemetery, Southington. Donations in William's memory may be made to Southington Care Center, 45 Meriden Ave., Southington, CT 06489 or to Connecticut Baptist Homes, 292 Thorpe Ave., Meriden, CT 06450.
