William H. Richters II, 70, of Plantsville passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday May 22, 2012 at the HCC at Bradley Memorial. He had been the loving husband of Patricia (Childs) Richters for 46 years.
Born December 25, 1941 in Northampton, MA to William H. Richters and the late Mae (Damerst) Richters, he had been a longtime Plantsville resident.
William proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. William spent most of his life in the food industry, including owning The Grist Mill in Amherst, MA and the Downtown Café© in Southington, CT. He later retired from Briarwood College as the Superintendent of plant and grounds. William was a proud member of the American Legion Kiltonic Post 72, recently serving as the Senior Vice President. He was also a former Commander. He was recently honored with Lifetime Membership. William loved baseball and was an avid Yankee fan. He enjoyed playing with his grandchildren and spending time with his family at the beaches in Florida and New Jersey.
In addition to his wife Patricia and his father William, he is survived by his son William H. "Chip" Richters III and his wife Kathleen of Plantsville; his daughter Elizabeth (Richters)White and her husband Bill of Plantsville and 4 grandchildren: Brandon and Bethany Robertson, Shane Richters and Dylan White, all of Plantsville; 2 sisters Lynne Stogdale and Elese Wunschel, both of FL and several nephews.
