William H. (Bill) Adams Sr., 87, of Southington passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday April 17, 2013 at the Southington Care Center. He was the loving husband of the late Dorothy H. (Ellison) Adams.
Born in Waterbury on November 17, 1925, to the late William F. and Elizabeth (Chambers) Adams, he had been a longtime Southington resident.
Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked as salesman in the metals industry for over 40 years. Bill will be remembered for his love of music, boating and fishing. When he wasn't playing his banjo, Bill volunteered at Bradley Hospital and offered his time and musical talent to the Southington Lions Club where he was recognized with a lifetime membership. Bill was a member of the Waterbury VFW, the Southington Elks Club, and more recently, the Elm City Banjo Society.
Bill is survived by his son William H. Adams Jr. and his wife Laurie of Southington; his daughter Cynthia Adams Bucken and her husband Michael of Milford, MA; two grandchildren: Caitlin Bucken and her fiancé© Anthony Joseph Barbieri of Waterbury and Kevin Bucken of Milford, MA; his niece Doris Lundberg of Florida; and his companion, Harriet Sheehy of Centerville, MA. He was predeceased by his sister Margaret Jakad.
