Wilford R. Parker, 78, of Southington passed away on Monday August 8, 2011 at the HCC at New Britain General. He was the loving husband of Joan (Derenthal) Parker for 51 years; together they enjoyed their travels throughout the world for many years.
Born February 10, 1933 in New Britain to the late Godfrey Joseph Leo and Margaret (Hopkins) Parker, he had lived in Southington for many years.
Mr. Parker served his country in the U.S. Air Force and worked as an engineer at the CT Highway Department. He loved to reminisce about the days he lived in Lancaster County, PA. He was an avid cyclist and a member of Appalachian Mountain Club and the Wednesday Group. He was also active in the Southington Land Trust and was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.
In addition to his wife Joan, he is survived by his son Lee Parker of New Haven, his daughter Lynn Marie Parker of Santa Rosa, California and 2 brothers, Charles "Chick" Parker and Godfrey Parker. He was predeceased by his sister Helen Bracamontes.
