Walter T. Pernal, 88, of Southington, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday Oct. 7, 2016. He was the loving husband of the late Jeannette (Erazmus) Pernal for 65 years.
Born on April 8, 1928 in Southington to the late John and Josephine Pernal, he had been a lifelong Southington resident.
Walter proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He worked as a toolmaker for many years. In his free time, Walter enjoyed gardening, bowling, music, and traveling to Maine and Hampton Beach with his wife. He was a loyal caregiver to Jeannette and loved his family. Walter was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Church.
He is survived by his son John Pernal and his wife Maritza of Southington, four daughters: Karen Bass of Mansfield; Mary Ann Norman and her husband Dennis of Eastford; Patricia Ortiz and her husband Fernando of Newington and Laura Catarino and her husband George of Colchester. He is also survived by his sister Rose Guiliano and her husband Michael of Meriden, 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday Oct. 11, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, 130 Summer St., Southington. Burial with full military honors will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Southington. Calling hours will be held before the service from 9-10:30 a.m.at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S.
