Walter Peidl, 63, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday October 15, 2010 at HCC at New Britain General. He was the beloved husband of Diane (DeRosa)Peidl for 30 years.

Born on February 5, 1947 in New Britain, to June (Peidl) Kaiser and the late Walter Peidl, he was a long-time Southington resident.

Besides his wife Diane, he is survived by his daughter Heather Shovlin of Florida, 3 step-children: Gene Demotses of Southington, William Demotses of Fairfield, Laura Demotses of Bridgeport, and 2 step grandchildren; Timmy and Adrianna. He also leaves behind his brother David Peidl of Southington and 2 nieces; Jennifer Dube and Melissa Peidl both of Bristol. He was predeceased by his step-father Charles Kaiser.

Wally graduated from Southington High School and went to college at the University of Louisville. He received his degree in law enforcement from Tunxis Community College and became a detective in the Southington Police Department. He was the former owner of Little Apple Video in Southington. Wally loved fishing and looked forward to spending his vacations in the Caribbean with his wife and best friend Diane.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday October 23, 2010 at 11:00am at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 10-11am at the funeral home.
