Virginia J. Brainerd

Virginia (Lauder) Brainerd, 85, formerly of Meriden, CT, wife of the late Edgar Brainerd, died Friday September 3, 2010 at Masonic Home Health Center after a short illness.

Born in Meriden on May 28, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Percy and Hazel (Johnson) Lauder. She was retired from Revere Corp., Wallingford, CT and lived in Meriden for most of her life.

Ginny was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She loved to sing, had a wonderful sense of humor and an infectious laugh. She was also an Eastern Star, Meridian Chapter 8, Meriden.

She is survived by 3 daughters; Judith (Robert) Kizilski of Southington, Nancy Brainerd of Anchorage, AK, and Marcia Brainerd of Plantsville. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren; Michael Kizilski, Peter (Bridgett) Kizilski, Christine Delgado, Lara Kosky and fianc'e Peter LaBarbera, and Jared (Amanda) Kosky, and 2 great-granddaughters, Alyssa and Jessica Kizilski, as well as several nieces and nephews. Ginny is also survived by sisters; Joan Dickinson and Nancy Skiados and brothers; Ellsworth Lauder and William Lauder, and sister-in-law, Harriet Lauder. She was predeceased by her brother, Henry (Bates) Lauder, sister-in-law, Lydia Lauder and brother-in-law, Richard Dickinson.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday September 8, 2010 at 10am from Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St. Plantsville, with a Funeral Mass at 11am at Mary Our Queen Church, 249 Savage St., Southington. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery, 817 Old Colony Rd., Meriden. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday September 7, 2010 from 5-7pm at the funeral home.
