Vera A. Knap

Vera (Antonowa) Knap, 89, longtime Southington resident, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Wednesday, November 5, 2014. She had been the loving wife of the late Stanley K. Knap for 56 years.

Born on November 20, 1924 in Leningrad, Russia to the late Kyrill and Tatyana (Iwanowa) Antonowa, Vera came to the United States and proudly became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1952.

She loved cooking and baking. Vera was skilled at sewing, crocheting and knitting. She enjoyed spending time in her garden and loved her flowers.

Vera is survived by her daughter Katherine Chamberland of Southington, her grandson Stephen Chamberland and his wife Heather of Ellensburg, WA, her brother-in-law Richard Knap, two sisters-in-law, Maryann Chamberlain and Barbara Knap, several nieces and nephews, her "other" daughter, Carol Guildner, her "other granddaughter" Amanda Hermann and good longtime friends, Carol and Robert Froehlich of Manchester, CT .

Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov, 11, 2014 from the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville, with a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception Church, 130 Summer St., Plantsville. Burial will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Southington.
