Thomas J. Staback

Thomas J. Staback, a resident of Southington, Connecticut, passed away on June 20, 2021, after a challenging illness.

Tom was born in Meriden, Connecticut and lived in Southington for many years. Tom was the successful owner of Tom’s Mobil, located on Meriden-Waterbury Road in Southington for many years. Fiercely independent, he decided to strike out on his own and founded Tom’s Auto Service in Southington. Those who knew him know that he created it not only as a place to work, but also as a place to tinker with his beloved cars. Tom loved riding to the shore in his restored cars to enjoy a seafood dinner or a good hot dog.

Tom was a quiet, unassuming man who was very humble about his accomplishments and his skills. He was a brilliant mechanic and a kind friend to all who knew him, including his furry “kitty” friends.

Tom leaves behind a daughter, Tracey and her husband Marty in Colorado, and his beloved partner of 30 years, Lynn B. Bourcier of Southington. He will be deeply missed by Lynn and her family, including his favorite “grandchildren”: Jacey E. Trice of Charlotte, North Carolina and Camden M. Trice of Ft. Worth, Texas. We will all miss him more than words can say.

A memorial service may be planned for his many friends in the Southington community later in the fall.

Donations in Tom’s memory may be made to Protectors of Animals in East Hartford, Connecticut, https://poainc.org/donate/, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Plantsville Funeral Home has been entrusted with handling the arrangements. For online condolences, please visit www.plantsvillefuneralhome.com.
