Thomas Buxton

Thomas Buxton, 91, of the Milldale section of Southington entered into eternal rest after a long illness on Saturday June 2, 2012, having received Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour and Lord.

Born in England on May 13, 1921 to the late John and Elsie (Barker) Buxton, he grew up in the Kensington area and had been a longtime Milldale resident.

Tom served proudly in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II, where his job was to protect the U.S. Borders. He served on the U.S.S. Machias (PF-53) and received many awards. He retired from the former SNET and was a longtime member of the Faith Living Church.

Thomas leaves his devoted wife of 42 years, Mary Jane (Morey) Pelcher Buxton; his beloved step-son Steven Pelcher; his nephew Scott Lunt and his family of Kensington; his brother-in-law Royce Lunt of FL; his beloved extended family, the Edgertons of Plainville; many nieces and nephews and his precious friend Francis Pacquet. He was predeceased by his first wife Delphia Busnarda, son Gregory Buxton, step-son David Pelcher, sister Elsie Lunt and brother-in-law Robert Morey.

Thomas's family would like to thank Dr. Asciuto and the staffs at the VNA, Franciscan Health Care, Apple Rehab and Masonicare Hospice for their excellent care.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Thomas's memory may be made to the Faith Living Church, 20 Grove St., Plantsville, CT 06489.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30a.m.on Tuesday June 5, 2012 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Burial with full military honors will follow in South End Cemetery, Southington. Calling hours will be held before the service from 9:30am to 10:30am at the Plantsville Funeral Home.
