Thelma (Raymond) Paradis, 84, of Southington, CT, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, December 26, 2024. She was the loving wife of Placid “Jr” Paradis for 67 blessed years.
Thelma was born in Winterville, Maine on September 9, 1940 to the late Thomas and Ida (Voisine) Raymond. She loved to reminisce about her childhood days on the family farm before moving to Connecticut in 1959 and settling in to raise her family.
Thelma worked at RP Olsen for 15 years. She enjoyed crocheting and made many blankets, hats and gloves for family and friends over the years. She liked to shop, cook, garden, go to the casino to play the slots and play cards, especially setback. She also liked to dance the night away with her husband as well as Duckpin bowling in a couples league for many years.
Her endless love and devotion to her family will forever be treasured.
In addition to her husband Placid, Thelma is survived by four children, Sue Seeger and her husband Kevin, Dan Paradis and his wife Carol, both of Southington, Nick Paradis and his wife Maura of Plainville and David Paradis of Bristol, 11 grandchildren, Justin Seeger (Kristie), Ryan Seeger, (Jackie), Jeremy Seeger (Jessica), Cory Seeger (Bailey), Kristin Lopa (Jon), Stephen Paradis (Kylie), Emily Anton (Chris), Joel Paradis (Kim), Thomas Paradis (Kara), Andrew Paradis, Sara Lentini (Tyler) and 16 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Jeanette Pinette of Presque Isle, ME, brother, Henry Raymond and his wife Rita of Winterville, ME, brother-in-law, Donald Paradis of Southington, sister-in-law, Joanne Santillo of Southington and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by an infant daughter, Cynthia, her brother, Gerard Raymond, sisters and brothers-in-law, Juliette and Roland Perreault, Nellie and Herbie Garrity, Leona (Pie) and Yvon Chapdelaine, Priscella and Freddie Wilson, Margaret and Charlie Aportia, Robert and Mary Paradis, Kenneth and Velma Paradis, Babe Pinette and her lovable dog, Cindy.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Thelma’s memory may be made to the First Lutheran Church, 232 Bristol St., Southington, CT 06489.
A memorial service will be celebrated at 12 noon on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. The family will greet relatives and friends before the service from 10 a.m. – 12 noon at the Plantsville Funeral Home. The burial will be at the convenience of the family.
