Thelma L. (Holland) Keel, 88, formerly of Southington passed away, after a long illness, on Tuesday February 15, 2011 at Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center in East Hartford. She was the beloved wife of the late William H. Keel Sr., for 36 years.
Thelma was born August 29, 1922 in Suffolk, VA to the late John and Lillian (Banks) Holland. She lived in Virginia for 40 years before moving to Southington, where she made her home for the next 45 years.
Thelma worked for many years as a clerk for General Electric in Plainville. After her retirement in 1983, she worked for the Visiting Nurses Association in Southington. Thelma was very active in the Southington community. She was a loyal member of the First Baptist Church in Southington, a life-long member of the G. E. Girls Club, a member of the Southington Emblem Club and volunteered at HCC at Bradley Memorial. She loved her arts and crafts and having her family over for dinner on Sundays. She also enjoyed traveling.
Thelma is survived by her son Gary H. Keel Sr. and his fiance Charlene Kulo of East Hartford; her daughter Linda Kolpak Gorski and her husband Andrew Gorski of Plainville; her brother Raydell Holland and his wife Lee of Independence, Missouri; 11 grandchildren: Ronald Kolpak III and his wife Darlena, Shawn Kolpak, Mark Keel and his wife Katie, Gary Keel Jr., William H. Keel III and his wife Candi, Jonathan Butler, Kimberly Mrozinski and her husband Richard, Kristina Greenwood and her husband Daniel, Kerry Kulo and her fianc'e Edward Hannigan, Kenneth Kulo and Alyssa Flynn; 19 great-grandchildren: Michael, Julie and Rebecca Keel, Alexa Flynn, Tyler and Cody Keel, Joshua, Jordan and Aspen Keel, Angelina Caminati, Kai, Karlie and Kaden Kolpak, Phoebe, Calie and Norah Mrozinski, Tyler, Karla and Ethan Greenwood, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son William H. Keel Jr., and her brothers John Holland and Frank Winslow.
A Funeral service will be held on Wednesday February 23, 2011 at 11:00am at the First Baptist Church, 581 Meriden Ave., Southington. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Southington.
