Shirley Marie Rossi, 84, of Southington, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, February 18, 2015. She had been the wife of the late Quito Rossi for over 50 years.
Born on May 28, 1930 in New Britain, to the late Conrad and Rachel (Mercier) Aubin, she had been a longtime Southington resident.
Shirley worked for 35 years for the Southington Board of Education. She was a paraprofessional at North Center School and a librarian's aide at DePaolo Middle School, where she retired in 2004. Not only was she a beloved co-worker, she was popular with the students as well. Following her retirement, Shirley was always active with volunteer work at the soup kitchen, the Red Cross, and Project Graduation. She was a best friend to many and enjoyed dining out with the girls, going to movies and attending the Cabernet. Her true happiness came from being around her loving family and nothing made her smile more. She entertained her children and grandchildren with her humor and participated in EVERYTHING from skeet shooting to jet skiing. Shirley had a way of making everyone she crossed paths with feel special. Her smile was infectious; it always lit up the room. She enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest.
Shirley is survived by her four children: son David Rossi and his wife Nancy of Harwinton, son Rick Rossi and Lynn Dougan of Southington, daughter Sharon Boucher and her husband Kevin of Farmington and daughter Joanne Gagne and her husband Rob of Harwinton. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Shirley was predeceased by her brother Andre Aubin and her daughter-in-law Cheryl Rossi.
