Shirley J. Phelps

Shirley Jean (Oberempt) Phelps, 89, of the Plantsville section of Southington died peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday June 29, 2012 at the Southington Care Center. She had been the loving wife of the late Charles H. Phelps for 52 years.

Born January 1, 1923 in Southington to the late Arthur and Pearl (Welton) Oberempt, she had been a lifelong Southington resident. Shirley was a member of the First Lutheran Church all of her life.

Shirley is survived by her daughter Marcia Phelps and her partner Debra Munson of Plantsville; 2 sons Jeffrey Phelps and wife Ellen of Ellington and Robert Phelps of Bristol; 4 grandchildren: Aubrey Phelps, Kaitlyn Phelps, Joshua Phelps and William Phelps, one great-grandson Logan and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her 2 brothers Charles and George Oberempt.
