Shirley Frances (Paradis) Lavoie Milia, 89, of the Plantsville section of Southington, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at her home.
Born on May 9, 1927 in Waterbury to the late Francis and Katherine (Lonergan) Paradis, she had been a longtime Waterbury resident before moving to Plantsville to be closer to her family.
She retired from North American Philips in Cheshire after many years of service. She was a talented self-taught pianist and her family will miss her playing for them on holidays.
Shirley is survived by five sons: Gary Lavoie, Brian Lavoie, Alan Lavoie, Glenn Lavoie and Robert Lavoie; one stepson, Arthur Milia; three stepdaughters: Mary Ann Sambuco, Linda J. Milia and Rosemarie Milia; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her two husbands, Romeo Lavoie and Arthur "Archie" P. Milia and her sister Beverly Edwards and one granddaughter.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 29, 2016 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury.
