Shirley K. Houghtaling

Shirley K. Jewett Houghtaling, 68, of Waterbury and formerly of Southington, passed away peacefully at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA on Sunday June 22, 2014 after complications from a long illness.

Shirley was born in New Britain on July 28, 1945 to the late Walter and Florence (Johnson) Tabor. She is survived by her husband Frank Houghtaling of Waterbury; her daughter Lisa Jewett of VT; her daughter Shelly Jewett LaChance and her husband Jay of Terryville; her son Wayne Jewett and his wife Gina of Southington; 7 grandchildren: Joshua and Ashlee Jewett; Michael and Jennifer Jewett; Tyler and Kayla LaChance and Kiera Parshley and her great-granddaughter, Aviera Godair. She also leaves behind 3 brothers; Robert "Ted" Tabor of Plainville; Lawrence Tabor of TN and Thomas Tabor of New Hartford and her sister, Patricia DiMora of East Hartford. She was predeceased by her daughter Tammy Jewett and her sister Geraldine Carver.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday June 27, 2014 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Southington.
