Sandra Joyce Fede, 56, of Southington, died unexpectedly on Sunday, August 31, 2014. She was predeceased by her father Ralph Fede and mother Hilda (Wruck) Fede and her beloved dog, Sarah.
Sandy was born on June 18, 1958 in Meriden and lived in Southington all of her life. She attended Southington schools and graduated from Southington High School in 1976. She earned her Associate's Degrees in Law Enforcement and Corrections from Manchester Community College and went to earn her Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from Central Connecticut State University. Sandy worked as a department lead and shift manager at Zayre and Ames and she retired as a shift manager at Big Lots in Wallingford. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Southington and the Connecticut Farm Bureau. She was an active member of the American Auxiliary of Meriden Unit #45, where she held several officer positions and was a Past Unit President. Sandy's greatest passion was helping other people. The happiest day of her life was being asked to be Godmother to Ryley Rose Kostenko, who was the daughter she never had.
Sandy leaves behind a sister, Ruth Stetson of Newark, DE; a brother David Fede and his wife D'Ann of North Stonington, CT; a sister, Deborah Elliott and her husband Bruce of Meriden, CT; and a sister, Rebecca Fede and her spouse Joan Traini of Southington, CT and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind the Traini and Kostenko families, which were like her own family.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. from the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville with a 10:00 a.m. funeral service at the First Lutheran Church, 232 Bristol St., Southington. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery, Bee St., Meriden.
