Sally Ann Wisniewski

Sally Ann (Cole) Wisniewski, 62, of New Britain and former longtime Southington resident, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at UConn Health, after a courageous 7-year battle with metastatic breast cancer. She was the devoted wife of Rome Wisniewski for nearly 43 years.

Sally was born in Southington on December 3, 1962 and graduated from Southington High School, Class of 1980.

Through her sickness and in health, Sally had a zest for life, full of love, adventure, and passion. She enjoyed a long fulfilling career as the healthcare practice manager for Dr. Joseph Babiarz where she made lasting connections with her peers and many patients over her 35 years of service. In her younger years, one of Sally’s favorite pastimes was playing card games with her grandfather well into the hours of the night. Sally loved to travel, especially to Disney, and enjoyed car rides with Rome to the beach so she could feel the sand and water on her feet. She was a fan of the UConn Huskies, Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots and enjoyed reading, HGTV, shopping, cuddling with Zander and crossword puzzles. Prior to her sickness, Sally and Rome enjoyed working out, running, and hiking, especially to Camp Sloper where you can find their names engraved onto the back of an artist’s conk mushroom.

After her cancer diagnosis, Sally made the decision to live her life fearlessly and to the fullest. Sally conquered her biggest fears including hospitals, doctors, medicine, needles, diagnostic image testing, flying, elevators, and even tattoos. Sally was happiest when her family was all together and she looked forward to weekly family dinners with all of her kids and grandkids.

Throughout her battle with cancer, Sally openly accepted opportunities to have her treatments, blood, and various tests used to help future patients fighting similar cancers. The family is forever grateful for UConn Hospital’s Oncology Team and their endless efforts to support Sally to the very end of her fight.

In addition to her husband Rome, Sally is survived by three children, son, Richard Wisniewski of New Britain, son, Daniel Wisniewski and his wife Dejah of Plantsville, daughter, Charlotte Wisniewski of New Britain, three cherished grandchildren, Harper, Clayton and Jasmine and her beloved dog, Zander. She is also survived by her birth parents Charlotte Cole of Southington and Robert Cole of Southington, brother, George Cole and his wife Ann of Westbrook, five sisters, Desiree Snay of Southington, Tami Belden of Plainville, Robin Smith of Southington, Lori Luponio of Louisiana and Sharon Quirk and her husband Rick of Middlefield, her aunt, Rosemary Pompei of Southington, her “adopted” son, Andy Salgado of New Britain, many nieces and nephews, close friends and neighbors, and a large loving extended family. Sally was predeceased by her sister, Brenda L. Cole, niece Shawna Pinette, uncle, Louis “Gigi” Pompei, Jr., and maternal grandparents Salvatore and Bridget Abbate.
