Ruth P. (Suess) LaLonde

Ruth Pauline Martha (Suess) LaLonde, 88, formerly of Southington, CT, passed away peacefully on Monday July 14, 2014. She had been the loving wife of the late Marcel LaLonde for 62 years.

Ruth was born on July 27, 1925 in New Britain, CT to late the Frederick and Emelia (Wittlieb) Suess and was the youngest of eight children. She was a longtime resident of Southington since 1957. Ruth worked at Evergreen Nursery as a secretary and previously worked for air raid service in New Britain during WWII. She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church where she taught nursery school, served on the building committee, and was also a member of the Ladies' Guild and church choir. Ruth loved to travel with her husband and enjoyed many trips to Amish Country in Pennsylvania and also Canada.

Ruth is survived by her two sons: David LaLonde and his wife Peggy of Southington and Marc Lalonde and his wife Ruth of Andover and one granddaughter, Eryen LaLonde of Southington. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and godchildren.

She was predeceased by her son Richard LaLonde and four brothers: Otto, Oscar, Emil, Edmund and three sisters: Alma, Elizabeth, and Bertha.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday July 20, 2014 at 12:30 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church, 531 Woodruff St., Southington. Calling hours will be held before the service from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church. Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday July 21, 2014 in Oak Hill Cemetery, Southington.
