Rosemary E. McNerney

Rosemary Elizabeth McNerney, 97, of Middletown and formerly of Plantsville, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, February 28, 2025.

Rosemary was born in Hartford on April 8, 1927 to the late Michael F. and Rosalind (Lynch) McNerney and grew up on Hillside Ave. in Plantsville. She graduated from Lewis High School, Class of 1945 and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Annhurst College in 1949. Rosemary worked in Hartford for The Mortgage Banker and then took a position at Loctite Corporation where she was a Management Information Systems Manager, retiring in 1989 after 20 years of service. 

Rosemary loved crocheting, reading, playing online Solitaire and volunteering. She volunteered at the American Cancer Society, MidState RSVP Annual Service Awards, ACS Daffodil Delivery in Middletown and the Friends of Russell Library in Middletown. She was beyond her years with her computer skills and taught computer use to seniors at the Middletown Senior Center and the Middlesex Institute for Lifelong Education (MILE), an organization she devoted much of her time to. She was also a Past President of the Annhurst Alumni Association and a member of Southington Community Theatre. Rosemary was a Past Chairman of the Wesleyan Hills Council and an Officer of the Wesleyan Hills Condo Board. She loved to be busy but always made time for her family. 

She is survived by her sister, Ruth Ann Bussett of Marion, two granddaughters, Tanya Reeve Reudgen (Jason) and Tiffany Reeve Rauch (Rod), great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob, Jeffrey, Tristyn, Logan and Drew, her stepson, John Reeve and many loving Bussett and McNerney nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Rosemary was predeceased by two brothers, Francis and James McNerney and her partner for over 30 years, Herbert Reeve.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Rosemary’s memory may be made to Friends of the Russell Library (https://russelllibrary.org/friends-of-the-library/). 

A memorial service will be celebrated at 12 noon on Friday, March 7, 2025 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Southington.
