Rosemarie “Rosie” Herdman, 77, of Southington, CT, passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at HOCC of New Britain.

Rosie was born on November 11, 1943 in Oklahoma City, OK. She grew up in Fort Smith, Arkansas and graduated from John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Arkansas to become a teacher.

She raised her children in Northwest Arkansas, Central Oklahoma and Southwest Kansas where Rosie worked as a first grade and substitute teacher, waitress and homemaker. She moved to Connecticut in 2004 and worked at the deli counter at Stop and Shop where she met her husband Roy.

Rosie had a wonderful southern charm and didn't know a stranger; her laugh and smile was infectious. She was a wonderful cook of traditional southern homemade meals and desserts. She loved corresponding with penpals and sending homemade cards and letters to her children and grandchildren on a daily basis.

She kept busy making quilts, crocheting, collecting knick-knacks, listening to country and gospel music, reading, watching western movies and sitcoms from the 1970’s. She had a beautiful voice and played the piano sharing her voice and faith in God and Jesus quite often at church.

Rosie was predeceased by her son, Michael Lemke of Massachusetts. In addition to her husband Roy, she is survived by her former spouse Lawrence Lemke of Oklahoma and three children, Marc and Dana Lemke of Kansas, Sandra and Jon Cristina of Massachusetts, Kimberly Lemke-Moore of Florida and nine grandchildren: Madeline, Emma and Oliva Lemke of Massachusetts; Drew, Devin, and Macy Lemke of Kansas, Samantha and Joshua Cristina of Massachusetts, Blair Moore of Florida, her stepson, Mark and Brenda Herdman of Virginia and two step -grandchildren, Lindsay and David.
