Ronald E. Poupart, 67, husband and 'best bud' of Sharon Earley Poupart died on Friday August 6, 2010 at Hartford Hospital following a lengthy stay. Ron was born on April 28, 1943 in Adams, MA and was the son of Rita (Roulier) and Harvey Poupart. He was a graduate of both Wentworth Institute of Technology and Central Connecticut State University and earned his degree in mechanical engineering. He spent his career working in the aero space industry at Pratt and Whitney, G.T.C. and Greenwich Air.
Ron was an avid car enthusiast and collector over the years. He was particularly proud of his restoration work on 'Julie' his 1952 Buick Roadmaster woody wagon and his 1957 Ford Thunderbird. Many fulfilling hours were spent at various car shows throughout the region competing and networking with fellow classic car lovers.
He will be remembered as a kind, caring and thoughtful man who loved his family, friends and his way of life.
"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away". One of these moments took place at Normandy France, July 4, 2006 while visiting the grave of his father, Harvey M. Poupart, PFC 486 AAA AW BN.
In addition to his wife Sharon of Southington, he is survived by his aunt Rachel Carpenter of Coronado, CA; mother-in-law and friend Rita Earley of Bennington, VT; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Steve and Clare Earley of Richmond, VT; the Roulier cousins from CA, CT, NC and extended family in Bennington, VT. He will also be dearly missed by good neighbors and fellow Buick Club of America Yankee Chapter friends where he was an active member and officer.
He would have wanted to express his gratitude for the excellent medical care given to him by Sophie and Lucy while at Hartford Hospital on Bliss 10 East.
A memorial gathering in celebration of Ron's life will be held at Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St. Plantsville, CT on Saturday August 21, 2010 at 12 noon. Please drive your classic cars if possible.
