Rodd S. Florian, 54, of Southington, CT passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, November 8, 2023.
Born on July 1,1969 in Hartford to David and Honey (Meade) Florian, Rodd grew up in Plantsville, a constant companion to his three brothers, three sisters and many cousins, too numerous to count. He attended local schools, playing little league baseball, midget football and helping his father with construction projects that taught him skills he continued to develop through his landscaping business and building a summer home in Maine where he spent his happiest times.
Rodd will be remembered as a man who practiced the art of small acts of kindness: picking flowers for his mother, planting lilies for a sister, taking nieces and nephews fishing, making popsicles for great nieces and nephews. He shared his love of the outdoors during summers in Maine with his large extended family; sighting eagles, messing around in boats and building large bonfires.
In addition to his parents, Rodd is survived by five siblings: Lani Florian, Lori Florian, David Florian Jr., Andrew Florian and wife Nancy and Heidi Florian and wife Maureen Gervais, sister-in-law, Michelle Florian and 11 loving nieces and nephews and 20 great-nieces and great-nephews. Rodd was predeceased by 2 brothers, Mark Florian and Mat Florian, his brother- in-law, Martyn Rouse and his nephew, Nicholas Florian.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Rodd’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (www.stjude.org).
