Robert William Anderson III, who was well known as "Rob," the soaring eagle with a broken wing, went to his heavenly inheritance on July 10, 2024, in New Smyrna Beach, FL at the age of 68. He was born on February 11, 1956, in Southington, CT to the late Robert W. Anderson Jr. and Elizabeth C. (Hlavka) Anderson.
Rob was a wonderful brother, uncle and best friend. He is survived by his loving sister, Christine Anderson, brother-in-law, Thomas Macklosky, nephew, Trenton Anderson, ex-wife, Carey, stepson, Steven and numerous cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by uncle, Alfred Anderson and cousin, Sean P. Anderson.
Rob was a skilled Master Plumber and operated his business, R.W. Plumbing, after graduating from E. C. Goodwin Technical School. His dedication to his trade and commitment to quality service earned him the respect of his community and colleagues. Throughout his career, he worked on many residential and commercial projects all throughout the United States. Rob believed in the importance of education and was a teacher and student mentor at E.C Goodwin Technical School.
Rob lived his life in motion and at a very young age, assigned himself the name “Rob the 3rd Bird.” He was always moving, whether it be biking, driving trucks, boating, riding dirt bikes or cruising on his beloved Harley. Rob liked to fish, camp, play pool and tennis and was also a talented dancer and singer. He was a true MacGyver and could fix anything, often taking something apart to see how it worked and putting it back together. He didn’t believe in waste and made sure that every piece or part was reused and recycled to serve a purpose. He had diverse skill sets, ranging from autobody to auto mechanics and could build anything, even constructing a trailer for his boat and motorcycles and a massive garage.
Rob also enjoyed watching spaghetti westerns and The Three Stooges. He had a great sense of humor and could light up a room with his jokes and ability to make people smile.
With his prior membership affiliation with the Knights of Columbus, Moose, and American Legion, Rob valued the friendships he cultivated and found joy in service and camaraderie. Rob was a true friend sharing his talents and advice always lending a helping hand with a heart of gold. He will be deeply missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 23, 2024 at the Immaculate Conception Church, 130 Summer St., Plantsville. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Southington. There are no calling hours. Plantsville Funeral Home has been entrusted with handling the arrangements.
