Robert A. Ploszay, 80, lifelong Southington resident, passed away at his home on Monday, January 4, 2021.

Robert was born on November 4, 1940 in Bristol to the late John and Helen (Boncek) Ploszay. He proudly served his country in the US Army National Guard. Bob graduated from Wilcox Tech Meriden CT in 1958 as a Tool and Die Maker.

Bob retired from Fafnir Bearing where he worked as a toolmaker. He was a Volunteer Firefighter with Company One in Southington and was a lifetime member of the Red Men’s Club. Bob was a kind and considerate gentleman. He was handy and creative. He would lend a helping hand and get things fixed. He was good at keeping things neat and organized.

Bob was a devoted son/nephew to his late parents, John and Helen, and late aunt, Florence Sewell. He was predeceased by his brothers, John Jr. and Richard. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He would always show up with something to share, like a fresh loaf of bread and a bottle of wine. He enjoyed sharing many stories from days gone by.

He is survived by his cousin, John Pernal (Tennessee), his godson, David A. Perlot (Southington). He will be missed by his friends and those who knew him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at the Immaculate Conception Church, 130 Summer St, Southington. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Southington. Face coverings are required at all times. Plantsville Funeral Home has been entrusted with handling the arrangements.
