Robert G. Okenquist, 62, of Southington, passed away after a lifelong battle with diabetes on Monday, Sept. 28, 2015 at Apple Rehab in Plainville.
Born on April 20, 1953 in Southington to Robert and Mary (Zakrzewski) Okenquist, he had been a lifelong Southington resident.
Robert worked for many years as a truck driver which was his lifelong passion. He loved to tinker and could fix anything. Robert loved animals, especially his cats and enjoyed trips to Block Island. He was proud of his collection of lighthouses. Bob will be remembered for his heart of gold and will be deeply missed by his family.
In addition to his parents Robert and Mary, Bob is survived by his sister Sharon Okenquist and his niece Caroline Okenquist Lenz, both of South Salem, NY.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday October 3, 2015 at Mary Our Queen Church, 248 Savage St., Southington. Burial will be held privately and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Plantsville Funeral Home has been entrusted in handling the arrangements.
