Robert H. Lawrence, 81, of Southington died peacefully at his home on Wednesday Feb. 27, 2013 . He was the beloved husband of Cora (Parkhurst) Lawrence for 56 years.

Mr. Lawrence was born in Hartford on August 14, 1931. He was educated in West Hartford public schools and graduated from the University of Hartford. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, rising to the rank of Staff Sgt.

Bob worked as an engineer at Hamilton Standard in Windsor Locks, CT until 1973 when he moved to Garrett-AiResearch in Torrance, CA. He then moved to the U. S. Coast Guard Facility in Elizabeth City, N. C. where he continued his work repairing airplanes. His career spanned over 45 years.

Bob had a lifelong interest in model trains. After his retirement from the aircraft industry, he began a model train repair business. This successful business attracted customers throughout the United States as well as Canada and Europe.

In addition to his wife Cora, he is survived by four children: Jacqueline Lawrence Wilson; James Lawrence and his wife Debra; Peter Lawrence and his wife Rita and Kenneth Lawrence, as well as several grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter Susan Lawrence.
