Robert Dale "Bob" King, 84, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2010 at John Dempsey Hospital, Farmington, CT. He was the son of Raymond and Pauline Stoner King. Bob was the loving husband of Hilda King for 62 years. Born on August 23, 1925, in York, PA, he served in the Navy from 1944-46 as a Seaman First Class Seabee on the island of Guam. Prior to his retirement, he worked for York Restaurant and Bar Supply, as well as the Viking Club. He enjoyed traveling in his camper, being an Innkeeper at the Smyser-Bair House Bed and Breakfast, making new friends, and fixing anything that was broken. Bob was a Boy Scout leader for many years and loved telling silly jokes to his family and friends. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Red Lion, PA for 20 years. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone who was in need. His family will miss his warm cheerful smile and hugs.
He is survived by daughter Kay and son-in-law Gordon Grady of CT, son Brad and daughter-in-law Dale King of Phoenix, AZ, grandchildren Trisha and her husband John Hannah of OH, Brianna and Josh King of AZ, and Keith Grady of CT; sister Catherine Smith of Manchester, sister Ethel and brother-in-law Paul Emenheiser of York, sister Patsy Hildebrand of MD, brother Raymond King of York, sister Pauline and brother-in-law Gerald Attig of Dallastown, brother Thomas and sister-in-law Nancy King of Hanover, and sister-in-law Anna King of Florida, brother-in-law Terry and sister-in-law Dorothy Hildebrand of York, brother-in-law Perry and sister-in-law Peggy Hildebrand of Windsor and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by brother Austin King, sister Ruth Garvey, brother-in-law William Garvey, and brothers-in-law Eldon and Llewellyn Hildebrand.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate his life during the viewing on Saturday, April 3, 2010 from 10-11am at Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home in Dallastown. The funeral and burial will follow the viewing at the cemetery adjoining the New Fairview Church of the Brethren in York Township.
