Robert D. Coury

Robert Douglas Coury, 63, of Plantsville; passed away unexpectedly of cardiac arrest on September 27, 2015, doing what he loved off the coast of Maine, taking beautiful pictures of nature; in this case the Total Lunar Eclipse. From polar bears to the wild life of Africa, Bob traveled the world with camera in hand and the love for nature in his heart.

Bob was born in Kankakee, IL on May 27, 1952. The past 20 years he worked at Yale University as a sheet metal journeyman.

He was dearly loved by his family and friends. He is survived by his mother: Armilla Coury of Plantsville, siblings: Richard Coury (Jane) of Walpole, MA; Thomas Coury (Jackie) of New Fairfield; Mary Coury of Meriden; James Coury of Cheshire; John Coury of Holiday, FL and Jean Mangini (Larry) of Plantsville.

Bob will be sadly missed by all of his nieces and nephews: Erika Coury, Eric Goodrich, Ray and Beth Mangini, Justin Coury, Melissa and Christopher Rusate, Christopher Coury, Brian Coury, Christine Coury, Kelly Coury and his great-nephews; Anthony Pecor and Nathan Mangini and his aunts, uncles, and cousins. Let's not forget his sweet cat; creatively named: Kitty.

He was just beginning his journey into retirement and had already planned his continued travels. Lastly, he dreamed about moving to the mountains of Colorado. Our family prays that he is getting his wish; enjoying the view from above the Colorado Rocky Mountains and now in heaven holding the hand of his loving niece, Cheryl Coury, and sharing stories with his father Halleem Coury.

A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville.
