Robert H. Brewster

Robert H. Brewster, 79, of Bristol and formerly of Southington, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Monday May 12, 2014. He had been the loving husband of Virginia (Parent) Brewster for 46 years.

Robert was born on January 30, 1935 in Meriden, CT to the late Warren H. and Mary (Gavin) Brewster.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He worked for the Southington Police Department for numerous years before retiring. Robert was an avid fisherman and he loved sports, especially the UConn Husky basketball teams. Robert's natural charisma not only touched his family, but everyone he met.

In addition to his wife Virginia, he is survived by his 3 sons: Steven McCarty Sr. and his wife Donna of Plantsville; Dean McCarty and his wife Carolyn of Elkton, Maryland; Michael McCarty Sr. and his wife Brenda of Plainville; his 4 daughters: Bonnie Kizilski and her husband Ken of Southington; Connie Kraft of Plainville; Roxanne Brewster of Meriden, and Debra Brewster of North Carolina; 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held privately and at the convenience of the family. Plantsville Funeral Home has been entrusted with handling the arrangements.
