Rita J. Goyen

Rita J. (Harrison) Goyen, 100, of the Plantsville section of Southington, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 31, 2021 at her home.

Rita was born on September 12, 1921 in Brooklyn, NY to the late William and Nina (Brockett) Harrison and had been a longtime Plantsville resident. She retired from New Departure after 46 years of service.

Throughout her lifetime, Rita liked to try new things including archery, target shooting, pottery and horseback riding. She loved animals and taking long drives, searching for covered bridges and waterfalls. She also loved to read, especially her daily newspaper and books about animals.

Rita is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Harrison and Gary Clavette and Coby Goyen and her grandson, Cassidy Delaney, all of Plantsville. She is also survived by her sister Margie LaRochelle and her husband Maurice of Meriden, her niece, Linda Purcell and her husband William, both of Meriden and other nieces and nephews.

In honor of Rita's memory, her family requests that you wear bright colors to the funeral services. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 7, 2022 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St, Plantsville. Burial will follow in Wonx Spring Cemetery, Marion Ave., Plantsville. Calling hours will be held before the service from 11 a.m.-1p.m. at the funeral home.
