Rita Florence (Muszynski) Fontana, 82, of Southington passed away Sunday May 23, 2010 in her home with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late William Fontana.
She was born in Southington, November 7, 1927 to the late Walter and Helen Muszynski and was a lifelong Southington resident.
Rita was a member of the Holy Trinity National Catholic Church in Plantsville. She worked for the State of CT at Wilcox Technical School in the lunch program for over 35 years and she enjoyed every minute of it. She collected antiques as a hobby and dabbled a little bit in the stock market. She also enjoyed traveling with her lifelong friend Micky Brucker.
She is survived by her daughters; Jane Rothe and her husband Edward of Ellington, Paula Fontana and Robin Truss, both of Southington; 6 grandchildren, Edward Rothe, Karen Carcia, Sarah Rothe all of Ellington, Michael and Meeghan Truss of Meriden, Ali Truss of Southington, Joseph Truss of Plantsville; and 2 great-grandchildren, Dalton and Megan Carcia.
She was predeceased by her sister Lillian Schuelke and brother Walter Muszynski. Besides her family, she leaves behind her loving and fun cousin Ellie Burdette who was always there for all of us.
Funeral services will be held Thursday May 27 at 9am from the Plantsville Funeral Home. 975 S. Main St, Plantsville, CT. The funeral cortege will leave at 9:45a.m. and Mass will follow at 10 a.m. at the Holy Trinity National Catholic Church, 200 Summer St. Plantsville. Burial will follow in the Holy Trinity Cemetery, Southington. Family and friends can pay respects at the funeral home on Wednesday May 26, 2010 from 4-7p.m.
