Richard O. Suiter, 96, of Southington, passed away at his home on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 after a long illness. He was the loving husband of the late Dolores (Freire) Suiter for over 40 years.
Richard was born on January 18, 1929 in Hartford to the late Howard and Marie (Olsen) Suiter and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Suiter worked as a tool and die maker at Pratt and Whitney, retiring after over 30 years of service. He was also an original charter volunteer fire fighter at Company # 5 in Southington for over 20 years.
Richard was an excellent athlete starting from a young age and was a sports fanatic all of his life, dedicated to rooting for all of Boston’s favorites; the Red Sox, New England Patriots and the Celtics and the UCONN Men and Women’s Basketball teams. He enjoyed playing ping pong, pool, golf and was an avid bowler, making his final trip to the bowling alley on his last day on earth. Richard also loved all animals, especially his beloved dog Jake and his two cherished cats, Fiona and Hannah. He was a loyal, loving husband and father and friend to so many.
Richard is survived by two children, son, Richard “Rick” O. Suiter Jr. and daughter, Linda Suiter, both of Southington and his grandson, Robert Gomez and wife Roxanne and their son, Jacob, all of California. He is also survived by one sister, Alice Petersen of Lebanon, sister-in-law, Joan Suiter of Burlington and many nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his wife Dolores, Richard was predeceased by his son, David Marc Suiter, former daughter-in-law, Selya Gomez, four brothers, Howard Suiter, William Suiter, Carl Suiter and Donald Suiter (Esther) and one sister, Marie Duff (Arthur).
Richard’s family would like to thank all of the healthcare professionals, especially, Dr. Bona and Dr. Manger, for the wonderful care that they provided to him over the years,

A memorial service with military honors will be celebrated at 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville.
