Richard Parnigoni, 89, of the Plantsville section of Southington died peacefully at his home on Sunday November 14, 2010. He was the beloved husband of the late Elise Carolyn (Slater) Parnigoni for 55 years.
Born on December 21, 1920 in Westerly, RI to the late Angelo and Rose (Cato) Parnigoni, he had been a long-time Plantsville resident.
Richard graduated from Westerly High School Class of '38. He went on to earn his Engineering Degree from the University of RI Class of '42. He completed his Naval Amphibious Training class 7323 and was also the Captain of the USS LST 278. He worked as an engineer for many years in the capacitor and coiling industries. Richard was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Friendship 33 in Southington.
He is survived by his daughter Susan Elise and son-in-law Marshall Naimo of Sarasota, FL, his son Alan Jay Parnigoni and daughter-in-law Debbie of Virginia Beach, VA and his daughter Laura Ellen Parnigoni and partner Michael Golas of Plantsville; four grandchildren: Marshall Jr. and Elise Naimo of Sarasota, FL and Stephen and Kristen Parnigoni of Virginia Beach, VA. He was predeceased by his brother Paul Parnigoni.
A memorial service in Richard's memory will be held on Saturday November 20, 2010 at 2pm at Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville, CT 06479. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 12-2pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
