Richard L. King, 86, of Southington, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, October 31, 2016. He was the loving husband of Avis (Burbank) King for 66 years.

Born on November 21, 1929 in Stratton, ME to the late Charles and Lillian (Miller) King, he had been a longtime Southington resident.

Richard retired from Pratt and Whitney after 37 years of service. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of American Legion Post 72. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Richard loved gardening and working with his hands.

In addition to his wife Avis, he is survived by 3 daughters, Sheryl Lavoie and her husband Darrell of Southington, Marjorie Welch and her husband Paul of Shelburne, VT and Susan Rawling and her husband Edwin of Southington; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son David King; daughter-in-law Arden King; 2 brothers, Robert and Larry King and his sister Betty Keeton.
