Richard W. Farr, 67, of Southington passed away at HCC at New Britain General on Wednesday March 16, 2011. He was the loving husband of Marguerite (Larmett) Farr for 41 years.
Born in New Britain on July 12, 1943, to the late Wesley S. and Frances (McGlaflin) Farr, he had been a long time Southington resident.
Richard worked as a mechanic for over 35 years. In his early years, he enjoyed camping with his family. He loved Lionel Model trains and had his own train room. He loved working on his computer, was a skilled woodworker, an avid NASCAR fan, and enjoyed caring for his late 4-legged friends; Dallas, Sandy and Sambuca.
In addition to his wife Marguerite, he is survived by his 2 sons: Peter Farr and his wife Heather of Southington; Charles Farr of Southington and 2 grandchildren: Delaney Rose Farr and Dylan Anthony Farr. He also leaves behind his sister Geraldine Hanna of Jacksonville, NC; his mother-in-law Marguerite Larmett of Wolcott; his brother-in-law Jack Larmett of Wolcott; his sister-in-law Eileen Farr of Elkridge, MD; his step-mother Helen Farr of Southington; several nieces and nephews; his special friends: Gary and Sybil Williams and Darrell Lavoie all of Southington, Roberta Ottoson of Farmington and his dogs Shadow and Cyrus. He was predeceased by his sister Donna Duprey and his brother Thomas H. Farr.

A funeral service will be held on Monday March 21, 2011 at 11:00am at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Southington. Calling hours will be held on Sunday March 20, 2011 from 4-7pm at the funeral home.
