Rhoda L. Allan

Rhoda L. (Wood) Allan, 85, of Southington, CT, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at The Pines at Bristol with her daughter and granddaughter by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Louis H. Allan who predeceased her in 2011. 

Rhoda was born on May 23, 1939 in Pittsfield, Maine to the late John F. and Helen C. (Jewett) Wood. 

In her younger years, Rhoda worked at Cheshire Consolidated Industries. She was a member of Faith Living Church in Plantsville and Thrive Church in Terryville. She cherished the friendships she made in her faith communities. 

Rhoda is survived by her daughter, Lorraine R. Allan and her husband John Micklos and son, Louis H. Allan Jr., both of Southington, 6 grandchildren, Christie Meola and her husband Marc of Wolcott, Kevin Allan of Southington, Jacob Allan and his wife Gabrielle Gergler of Meriden, Jesse Allan of Southington and Joshua Allan and his wife Jessica of Warner Robins, GA and 12 great-grandchildren, Luke, James and Jackson Olmstead, Morgan, Carley and Jackson Allan, Dorothy, Vanessa, Rebekah and Charlotte Meole and Hannah and Allyson Pollock. In addition to her husband Louis, she was predeceased by six siblings, Ramona Hickson, Arnold Sprague, John Wood, Ella Jackson, Elsie Munson and James Wood. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews from the Gulf Coast of Louisiana and Texas to the Northern regions of Maine and everywhere in between.

Dementia took Rhoda from her family long before she was called home to the Lord. Her family extends their deepest gratitude to Brighten Hospice Care, The Pines at Bristol and DayBreak Adult Daycare, as well as to Margarita for always brightening Mom’s day and a very special thanks to Bill, who would hold Mom’s hand for hours so she wouldn’t feel lonely or afraid.
