Rennold 'Renny' Graham Hanson Jr., 69, died peacefully on the morning of Thursday October 14, 2010 at HCC at New Britain General. He was the beloved husband of Cornelia (McNerney) Hanson for 43 years.
Born on September 30, 1941 to the late Rennold Graham and Angela Grace (Sheridan) Hanson, he was a long-time Southington resident.
He is survived by 3 sons: Rennold G. Hanson III of Southington, William E. Hanson and wife Deborah of Southington, and Timothy J. Hanson and wife Margaret of Tappan, NY; 3 beloved grandchildren; Nicole, Emily, and James and his brother, Robert J. Hanson of Alexandria, VA and his sister Heather Hanson of Southbury, CT.
Rennold served his country as a medic in the United States Air Force and later served in the Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 24-8, Cedar Island Marina in Clinton, CT. He retired as a Youth Services Officer for the State of CT. He was an avid boater and loved the ocean. He especially loved to spend his summers at the Cape with his 2 granddaughters and cherished the time he spent with his newest grandson, James. Renny was active as a former Scout Leader of Cub Pack 8 and Boy Scout Troop 32 of Southington. He also volunteered his time with the Red Cross and taught CCD at St. Thomas Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday October 18, 2010 at 9:00am from the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am at St. Thomas Church, 99 Bristol St., Southington. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Southington. Calling hours will be held on Sunday October 17, 2010 from 4-7pm at the funeral home.
