Regina “Gina” Victoria Lumia, 70, of Rocky Hill, CT, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 5, 2024 at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Mount Vernon, NY, she was the daughter of the late David and Dolores (Difate) Ali.
Gina's life was marked by memorable milestones that spoke to her adventurous spirit and dedication. Her service in the U.S. Air Force showcased her commitment to helping others, a trait that defined her professionally and personally. Her achievements in the IT field, underscored by her numerous certifications, were a reflection of her intelligence, hard work and determination. Gina's leadership within the SNEC PMI chapter demonstrated her commitment to her profession and her colleagues, earning the respect and admiration of all who worked with her. She retired from Prudential Insurance Company in 2022.
In facing adversity, Gina taught us the meaning of courage. Her battle with cancer was fought with the same tenacity and grace that characterized her entire life. Through her struggle, Gina continued to shine, her spirit unbroken, her faith unwavering.
Gina is survived by her husband Jim Lumia, son Brian Schaller (Nicole), brothers, David Ali (Lisa), Dan Dacey and 2 grandchildren. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Ellen Lumia, brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul, Candace, Jeff and Kim, many cousins and eight nieces and nephews, Kimberly Kirkman (Jesse), Ryan Ali, Rachel Dacey, Patrick Dacey, Isabella Lumia, Jeffrey Lumia, Sara-Kate Lumia, Thomas Lumia and grandnephew, David Kirkman. Gina also leaves behind Christopher and Maura Fitzgerald Mocciae, with whom she shared a beautiful friendship lasting over 30 years.
In addition to her parents, David and Dolores, she was predeceased by her father-in-law, James and her sister-in-law, Kerrie Dacey.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Emily Collier and the dedicated staff at the Smilow Cancer Center, St. Francis Hospital for giving Gina the care, support, dignity and grace she so deserved.
Memorial donations can be made in Regina’s name to the Connecticut chapter of the Veterans Association or St. Francis Smilow Cancer Center.
