Rachael Ann Poirier

Rachael Ann (Sessa) Poirier, 86, of the Marion section of Southington passed away peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2015 at the Southington Care Center. She had been the beloved wife of the late John Austin Poirier for 36 years.

Born on February 2, 1929 in New Haven to the late John and Concetta (Laurentano) Sessa, she had been a longtime Marion resident.

Rachael was a member of St. Aloysius Church, Church Women United, the Lioness and was a former Girl Scout Leader. Prior to her retirement, Rachael worked as an aid at Southington High School.

She is survived by her daughters Ann Wright (Michael) of Perkasie, PA and Jean Walker (William) of Bluffton, SC; 5 grandchildren: Michelle, Matthew, Jennifer, Jeffrey and Catherine; her brother Joseph Sessa of New Haven and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Lena Consiglio and 4 brothers: Salvatore, James, Thomas and Andrew Sessa.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at St. Aloysius Church, 254 Burritt St., Plantsville. Burial will follow in South End Cemetery, Southington. Calling hours will be held before the Mass from 9 - 10 a.m. at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville.
