Philip DeBisschop

Philip DeBisschop, 88, of Southington, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, April 16, 2023 surrounded by his family. He had been the loving husband of the late Joan (Richmond) DeBisschop for over 50 years.

Philip was born on July 28, 1934, in Cheshire to the late Peter and Wilhelmina (Gaug) DeBisschop. He was an electrician by trade and worked at many companies throughout his career, including Kurtz Farms. Phil enjoyed daily breakfast at Grace’s Diner, watching old cowboy movies and NASCAR. He loved his family and filled his days by offering a set of helpful hands to anyone that needed them.  

Phil is survived by 4 children; Linda Arundel and husband David, Philip DeBisschop, Lori Lacourciere and Lesly Naylor, 10 grandchildren; Matthew, Lianne, Timothy, Jamie, Karri, Katie, Molly, Rachel, Zachary and Mallory and 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Peter DeBisschop and wife Susan of Bristol and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Joan, he was predeceased by his daughter, Lisa Harris and daughter-in-law, Remie Ward-DeBisschop.

A memorial service will held at 12 noon on Friday, April 21, 2023 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Burial will follow in St. Bridget of Sweden Parish Cemetery, Cheshire.
