Paul R. Plourde

Paul R. Plourde, 80, of Southington and formerly of Wethersfield, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2022, at Southington Care Center, after courageously battling lung cancer.

Paul had been the beloved husband of the late Judith “Judy” (Lowe) Plourde for 43 years.

Paul was born on June 24, 1942, in Stockholm, Maine to the late Albert and Alfreda (Roy) Plourde.  Paul was an athlete, playing baseball and winning awards for cross country skiing and ski jumping throughout his youth. He went on to join the US Army serving time in Korea.

He owned and operated Plourde Manufacturing alongside his wife Judy for many years. In their retirement, Paul and Judy enjoyed the time they spent together at their many lake houses where they made lasting memories with their family.

Paul was a leader of his community acting as a former President of the Rotary Club and as a Scout Leader with the Boy Scouts of America for many years.  Some of his many hobbies included watching the Boston Red Sox and refinishing furniture.

Paul is survived by 4 sons; Jeffrey (Maryann), Jason (Jonelle), John (Barbara) and Paul Jr. (Susan) and 3 stepdaughters, Pamela, Jennifer and Susan Duncan, 14 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother John Plourde (Beverly) and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Judy, he was predeceased by 3 sisters, Rachel, Joyce, and Della.

A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 19^th at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St, Plantsville, CT. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
