Norman C. Libengood, of Southington and formerly of Lower Burrell, PA, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018 at HOCC at New Britain. He had been the loving husband of Dorothy M. (Thomas) Libengood. They would have been married for 70 years on Nov. 27.
Norman was born in Aspinwall, PA on June 26, 1927 to the late Samuel Ray and Bessie Viola (Ressler) Libengood. He spent most of his life in Lower Burrell, PA and moved to Southington in 1995.
Norman proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Pacific Campaign. He attended Connley Trade School and earned his degree in Electronics. Norman retired from the Pennsylvania Rail Road where he worked as a Block Operator for 43 years. He was an active life member of the VFW Post 92 in Lower Burrell, PA for many years.
In addition to his wife Dorothy, Norman is survived by three children: Sharon Ann Jackson and her husband Garry of Higganum, Robert Thomas Libengood and his wife Nancy of FL, Scott Allen Libengood and his wife Linda of Cheshire; 4 grandchildren, Jonathan Adam Houck and his wife Katie, Michael and Rachel Libengood and James Libengood and his wife Kelly and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018 from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Burial with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 30, 2018 in Greenwood Memorial Cemetery, Lower Burrell, PA.
