Nickolas Zadrick, 83, of Southington passed away peacefully at home on January 1, 2012. He had been the loving husband of Helen (Surveski) Zadrick for 56 years.

Born in Meriden on June 9, 1928, to the late George and Nellie (Lincovich) Zadrick, he had been a longtime Southington resident.

After graduating from Meriden High School in 1946, he enlisted in the USMC where he was stationed in China and served as a Sergeant in radio communications. He was a Petty Officer First Class in the Coast Guard Reserves, Search and Rescue for 20 years and belonged to the China Marine Association. Nickolas graduated from the University of Hartford with a BS in Business. He worked at Bristol Babcock in Waterbury as an engineer for 25 years. He was a member of the Silver City Flying Club in Meriden, the Radio Control Flying Club in Farmington, the American Radio Relay League in Newington, the VFW, the American Legion Kiltonic Post 72 and was an active member of the Southington Amateur Radio Club-N1NZ.

In addition to his wife Helen, he is survived by his 2 sons: Mark Zadrick and his fianc' Gail Bartoli of Middletown and Wayne Zadrick and his wife Laura of Bristol; 2 grandchildren: Sara Arute of Farmington and Michael Zadrick of Bristol; his brother Alex Zadrick of Ocala, FL; his aunt Doris Hryckvich of Sandisfield, MA and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 9:00am on Thursday January 5, 2012 from the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville, with a 10:00am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas Church, 99 Bristol St., Southington. Burial with full military honors will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Southington. Main St., Plantsville, with a 10:00am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas Church, 99 Bristol St., Southington. Burial with full military honors will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Southington. Calling hours will be held from 4-7pm on Wednesday January 4, 2012 at the funeral home.
