Nancy R. Wilson

Nancy R. (Anderson) Wilson, 77, of Southington, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Friday, Dec. 18, 2015 at Southington Care Center. She had been the loving wife of the late Gary Wilson for 35 years.

Born in Meriden on July 7, 1938 to the late Harold and Ruth (Domen) Anderson, she had been a lifelong Southington resident.

Nancy was a 1956 Southington High School graduate. She then attended E.C. Goodwin Technical School where she graduated with a certificate in hairdressing. Before her marriage, she worked as a hair stylist at various salons and enjoyed taking trips to NYC for hairstylist conventions. She loved traveling and taking day trips with her husband Gary. Nancy was a lifelong parishioner at the First Lutheran Church in Southington. She was very active in the Ladies Guild, acting as President for many years.

She is survived by her brother James Anderson and his wife Sandra of Southington; two uncles; Fred and Walter Anderson, both of Southington; one aunt, Madeleine Anderson of Waterbury; five nieces; Deborah (Joseph) Hukill of Burlington; Ingrid Anderson of Las Vegas, NV; Aimee Teator (Mark) of Cheshire; Tracy Bocompani (Christopher) of Warwick, RI and Bethany Fissette of Southington; six great- nieces and great-nephews: Abby, Katrina, Katharine, Luke, Maura and Aidan and many cousins. She also leaves behind many loving friends, especially Dolores Hall of Southington, Sandra Snyder of PA; Gail Clark of FL; and Donna Douglass of VT.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2015 at the First Lutheran Church, 232 Bristol St., Southington. There will be an hour of visitation before the service from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow in South End Cemetery, Southington. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2015 from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville.
