Nancy J. Sewell, 73, of Southington, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at HOCC- New Britain Campus after a courageous battle with cancer.
Nancy was born on February 11, 1950 in Houlton, Maine to the late Richard and Constance (Appleby) Sewell.
She graduated from Terryville High School and attended Tunxis Community College. She also earned her certificate in Education for Ministry from the University of the South. Throughout her professional career, Nancy held numerous leadership positions at Aetna and The Hartford.
She had strong faith and was a Christian Formation Leader in the Episcopal Church for 50 years where she held many volunteer positions at the St. Paul Episcopal Church in Southington. Nancy was instrumental in starting Godley Play and Journey to Adulthood programs at St. Paul’s.
Nancy is survived by her brother Richard Sewell and wife Patty of Pooler, GA and many loving friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Jamison Chasse.
The family would like to extend our deepest thanks to the entire St. Paul’s parish care team. Special thanks to Kathy Lafland, Cindy Fontaine, Mary Palinkos, Gennifer Herman, Grace Herman, Amy Cook, and Karen Lyga for their kindness and devotion over the course of Nancy's illness.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Nancy’s memory may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Scholarship Fund, 145 Main St, Southington, CT 06489.
A memorial service will be celebrated at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at St. Paul Episcopal Church, 145 Main St., Southington. Burial of ashes will follow in the St. Paul Memorial Garden. Plantsville Funeral Home has been entrusted with handling the arrangements.
