Nancy I. Heavin

Nancy (Prisavage) Heavin, age 81 of Southington, CT and formerly of Waterbury, CT passed away peacefully December 10, 2024 at home surrounded by her family. Born in Waterbury, CT she was the daughter of the late Joseph Prisavage and Marie (Quinlan) Prisavage and lived there with her family until moving to Southington in 1977. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School followed by St Mary’s School of Nursing where she earned her Registered Nursing degree. Shortly after graduation, she married her husband, Brendan Heavin, to whom she was married for over 59 years. After starting her family, she continued working in the nursing field as an Operating Room Nurse, as well as providing Private Duty and convalescent care among other roles. After exploring real estate for the family’s move to Southington, Nancy embarked on a new career in real estate. She began her new career as an agent, then moved into manager and regional manager roles. Subsequently, started a real estate training school for new agents and offered continuing education for existing brokers.

Nancy’s proudest achievements were her roles as beloved wife, loving mother and doting “Gram-ma” as the heart and soul of the family. When not with her family, she loved spending time socializing with her closest friends. Her favorite activity was “getting into trouble” by pulling pranks and practical jokes on her friends and family. Whether it was the mischief she’d get into with her cousins growing up or the little tricks she’d play on her grandchildren, she always loved to laugh and have fun! Her other sources of enjoyment were her many travels across the US and abroad with family and close friends plus several years singing in the Southington Chorale Group.

Besides Brendan, she is survived by her daughter Joan Conlan and son-in-law Michael Conlan as well as her daughter Patricia Fishbein and son-in-law Sean Fishbein. Additionally, she is survived by her 3 grandchildren, Ryan Conlan, Connor Fishbein and Caroline Fishbein. In addition to her parents, Nancy was predeceased by her sister, Joan Marie Prisavage, who was a Sister of Mercy.

Nancy fought a valiant battle with Alzheimer’s for more than 13 years. However, the family will choose to remember her as the fun-loving, independent woman that was a force of nature in our family and who brought us so much joy and love. We would like to thank the many caregivers who supported us and provided exceptional care throughout her journey. We consider our most recent caregiver from Assisted Living Services, Mary (Charlotte Fosu), a permanent part of our extended family.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Nancy’s memory may be made to an Alzheimer’s charity of the donor’s choice.

Family and friends are welcome to gather on Thursday, December 12, 2024 from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville.
