Maureen d. Chevrier of Cheshire, 70, passed away on January 28, 2015 after suffering with a chronic illness for 11 years.
Born August 3, 1944 in Hartford to the late Walter and Margueritte (Grosch) Dungan, she had been a longtime Maryland resident before moving to Connecticut.
Although she was tenacious, she handled herself with dignity and grace. Maureen was a nurse for 40 years working at both Southern Maryland Hospital and Prince George's Medical Center. Upon moving to South Windsor in 1985, she worked as a skilled nurse with pediatric patients. Maureen was a great source of comfort to both the families and the patients she cared for.
Maureen leaves behind her beloved sons, Edmund Carl Chevrier of Windsor, CT; Gregory Thomas Chevrier and his wife Deirdre of Williamsburg, VA; Brendan Colin Chevrier of Roanoke, VA as well her only daughter Elizabeth M. Morfis and her husband John B. Morfis of Plantsville. She also leaves behind Tammy Chevrier and her 5 cherished grandchildren: Mackenzie, Chloe, Cameron, Grant and Hogan.
Maureen spent the last 6 months at Elim Park in Cheshire, CT where she easily made close friends with Shirley Vines, Sister Katherine Sedgeman and Anna Sagnella. They had many laughs together and the family wishes to thank all of her friends at Elim Park for their concern and prayers during a very difficult time. The family also wishes to extend their gratitude to the medical team at Yale New Haven Hospital, especially the MICU, 9th floor and E. Pavilion 5th floor staff. The quality and level of care was wonderful. The entire family would like to thank Father Bill McGuire, Chaplain Sharon Betts and Chaplain Gavin Meehan, who were a source of strength and comfort during their mother's stay.
